So, the house is gleaming, and you’ve got enough baked goods stockpiled to sink a ship, now what? With another couple of weeks of lockdown ahead of us, you might be starting to struggle to find new things to do at home to stave away the boredom. We’ve compiled a list of some options to keep you productive, and although some of them may seem a little less than enthralling, you can at least feel a daily sense of accomplishment! And let’s face it, if not now, when?
- Pull out that old juicer gathering dust and put it to good use by churning out a healthy green concoction. Yes, we know the dreaded juicer clean-up is usually a deterrent, but now be thankful for those extra minutes being occupied. Plus, you’re doing something good for your insides by juicing. Feel virtuous!
- Luxuriate in a bath. Add 2 cups of Epsom salts infused with a few drops of lavender essential oil to relax tense muscles and balance your emotions.
- Search for adult colouring books and puzzles you can print online.
- Bake some bread (not more banana bread!). We’re talking about the more challenging sourdough variety. First, you’ll need to make the sourdough starter which will take about 5-days (you won’t have to make this again for more loaves). Give it a crack!
- If you’re keen on some culture, take a digital museum tour. Travel and Leisure has a list of 12 museums that offer virtual tours. Travel all around the world from your own couch.
- Actually meditate. No excuses here, there are so many meditation apps available with meditations starting as short as 3 minutes long.
- Finally finish reading that book that’s been sitting there forever!
- Oil your chopping boards, descale your kettle, and season your cast iron pans
- Clean up your computer desktop. Organise and delete, add some fun folder icons, and change your background image.
- Backup your photos and free up some storage.
- Unsubscribe from all the emails you don’t actually read (not Nourish the Guide of course!).
- Jump on YouTube and learn some moves. With so many dance tutorials available you can pick your favourite dance style and get the endorphins flowing.
- Get the brain working and upskill with online learning. Edx offers free university courses from over 140 top institutions including Harvard University, Berkley and more, in hundreds of popular subjects.
- Try something new in the bedroom. Nuff said.
- Make a new friend without leaving the house. There’s a free app called Quarantine Chat that connects thousands of strangers worldwide. Sign-up and receive random calls throughout the day (your phone number is not shared). Chat about anything and everything!
- Start journaling again.
- Discover a new podcast. There are so many to choose from!
- Do a closet clear out and store away unused items to give to charity. Be ruthless, it’s so cathartic!
- Work on your website or clean up your social media profiles.
- Do a pantry stocktake and experiment with some new recipes based on what you have to hand.
