We know it’s February when the days start to feel a little longer, and the island is in full almond blossom bloom. With the lovely mild weather here on Mallorca we’re coming out of hibernation and spending as much time outdoors enjoying nature as possible. 2021 is well and truly underway and despite the ongoing external chaos we’re determined to stay optimistic and focus on the things we can control – looking after our body and mind and nourishing ourselves with all that is available to us on our beautiful island.
GET THAT H2O
We all know how important hydration is for our health, but the use of single-use water bottles is terrible for our environment. It is calculated that each resident of the Balearics currently consumes an average of 175 litres of bottled water per annum, and in Palma, 2,000 tonnes of bottle waste is created each year. Thankfully Emaya is installing filtered drinking water fountains all over Palma in an effort to encourage the drinking of tap water and reduce plastic waste. They have even incorporated a separate tap outlet so our doggy friends can sip and hydrate on the run too. Have your reusable bottle on hand and keep an eye out around town for the fountains!
YIN FOR LIFE
We’re always on the lookout for an inspiring read, and the latest book on our reading list is Yin for life – Nourishing Guidance for Women in all Stages by Mirjam Wagner. Mirjam loves to work with women in order to uncover conscious and unconscious limitations of their full potential. In her teachings she combines scientific understandings of the human body with a holistic and spiritual approach. Each chapter is full of inspiration, scientific and holistic background and solid practice. Topics covered include embryology, anatomy, organs and hormones, yin yoga, feminine archetypes, spiritual traditions and much more. Get your copy here.
PILATES WITH DEVA
We love getting our daily dose of exercise outdoors in the sunshine at this time of year. The mild weather combined with an endorphin rush and hit of vitamin D is guaranteed to make you feel fab! That’s why you’ll find us at Deya Gavrailova’s Pilates classes each week on Son Caliu beach. Deya is a certified Pilates instructor and her classes are fun, challenging and adapted to her clients’ needs. She loves the classical Pilates repertoire, but her passion is Pilates flow, slow movement, and the incorporation of different props into her workouts. Deya teaches group classes, as well as privately for those with very specific needs or those who want to deepen their practice. As well as beach classes she also holds regular weekly classes at Origin Palmanova. Find out how to book your spot here.
Wishing you a fabulous February,
Love The Nourish Team.x
