Juice or Cleanse
Can drinking juice daily offer the same health benefits as a long-term cleanse or a juice retreat ? Does a juice a day really keep the doctor away? Or do we need to undertake a complete juice cleanse to achieve the ultimate pick-me-up?
Nutritional Therapist Suzanne Garaty wraps up her series on juicing with a comparison of the benefits of daily juicing against a long-term cleanse.
When to juice and when to cleanse? I certainly believe a juice a day keeps the doctor away and, in my opinion, the benefits of juice fasting are long lasting.
I recommend enjoying at least one 500ml (two cup) glass of green juice every single day for the rest of your long, healthy life. Try the delicious green juice recipe at the end and drink it first thing in the morning, pre-coffee and before food. You’ll be amazed how your body will thank you!
Stick with it, and you might be pleasantly surprised to find that, before long, you will no longer even need coffee to wake up. Once your body starts benefiting from the juice, your cells will crave the delicious emerald green liquid instead.
Depending on how your body feels and how many vegetables you’re comfortable consuming daily, you may enjoy a second juice in the afternoon (try drinking it around the dreaded 4pm dip, instead of tea and biscuits).
This simple addition of a daily juice will do wonders on its own for your short-term health, but for even greater, long-term benefits, you could consider a three-to-five-day juice fast at the change of each season, or perhaps one fast day each week.
