Getting a good pampering is something that I rarely schedule, so when I headed out the door to Bikini Beach Boutique and Spa on a particularly blustery winters morning you could say I was inordinately excited. I was booked in for not one, but three indulgent treatments – a facial, massage, and manicure. BRING. IT. ON.
Located along Paseo Mallorca, I arrived to the safe haven of Bikini Beach completely dishevelled after a thorough whipping from the icy wind. I was warmly greeted by Hannah who was to be my spa therapist for the morning. While Hannah was setting up for my plethora of treatments, I fought the strong urge to spend up a storm in the boutique area of the salon. Stocked with beachy essentials and accessories, gorgeous bikinis beckoned me. Luckily for my bank balance Hannah led me into the treatment room in the nick of time.
Fabulous facial
The softly lit room was scented with the aroma of doTERRA essential oils (from E Oil Alchemy) diffusing. Beginning to relax already, I popped off my kit and jumped onto the massage table. Covering myself with the warm, fluffy towels, I was more than ready for my first treatment – the facial. I must say I’ve always been a bit wary of facials. As someone with sensitive skin I find most mainstream skincare products cause irritation to my skin, and I opt for natural skincare at home, which I find most facialists don’t subscribe to. I needn’t have worried – Hannah explains that they use Comfort Zone products for their facials and massages at Bikini Beach. Comfort Zone skincare is free from parabens, silicones, mineral oils, artificial colours and animal derivatives, and made from the finest natural-origin ingredients – and they smell delicious! As Hannah gently massaged the products into my skin I was lulled into deep relaxation. I felt a world away from the cold and dreary streets of Palma.
Massage time
Now that my face was feeling clean, dewy, and as soft as the proverbial, it was time to roll over for the massage. Now I have to admit I’m a bit of a massage elitist. I’ve spent years finding the best massage therapists I can and have had plenty of average massages in the process. Really good therapists are few and far between. That being said, I cannot emphasise this enough; Hannah’s massage was one of the absolute BEST massages I have ever received. I do not say this lightly! As a twenty something year old it’s hard to fathom how she has picked up such expert skills, but chatting to her afterwards she enthusiastically tells me she is continuously looking to up skill through various courses and study. A background as a masseuse on super yachts certainly helps as well. She tells me she has developed her own style over the years, based on what she has learned through education, and what she personally likes. It was an utterly blissful experience as she worked out all the knots and tension. I felt like a new person once she’d finished.
… and a manicure to finish
My trifecta of treatments ended with a lovely manicure. So many colours to choose from! As Hannah and I deliberated over the perfect shade (I was off to a birthday celebration that evening), salon owner Lucy came over to chat and offer me a glass of bubbles or herbal tea. With an afternoon of errands ahead I sensibly went for the latter, sipping as my nails were shaped, buffed and polished to perfection.
I left Bikini Beach on cloud nine, vowing to incorporate more glorious self-care treatments into my regular schedule. With a host of treatments ranging from waxing to massage, to weekly meditation sessions in their yoga space, I highly recommend you do the same and pop into Bikini Beach!
